Registration of a temporary residence permit (TRP) for citizens of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan

Here we consider working in companies only. The work of a citizen of Uzbekistan for individuals is not considered.

Information about temporary residence permit (TRP)

A temporary residence permit (TRP) is issued to foreigners temporarily staying in the Republic of Kazakhstan for certain purposes. The goals may be different, for example:

1. Work, treatment, study.
2. Reunification with family.
3. Business immigrant (to carry out entrepreneurial activities).
4. Missionary activity.

A temporary residence permit is issued for countries with a visa-free regime and is a document replacing a work visa. Citizens of the EAEU countries, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, etc. can apply for a residence permit.

If the purpose of entry of a foreign citizen is work, then it is necessary to find an employer. Then the employment contract is concluded and we proceed to registration of a temporary residence permit (TRP) to Kazakhstan for a citizen of Uzbekistan. 

Options for legalizing work in legal entities for citizens of Uzbekistan

For citizens of Uzbekistan who plan to be officially employed in legal entities, branches, representative offices, individual entrepreneurs and other forms of organizations, there are two registration scenarios:

1. Standard procedure through obtaining a work permit and then a temporary residence permit.
2. By exception to the Rules, without a work permit, but with registration of a temporary residence permit.

A client contacted us to obtain a temporary residence permit (TRP) to Kazakhstan for citizens of Uzbekistan. The employee simultaneously held two positions. He did not qualify for the exemption. Therefore, we first received work permit for two companies. Then we started to apply for a temporary residence permit.

The procedure for obtaining a temporary residence permit in Kazakhstan for citizens of Uzbekistan

Documents for a temporary residence permit are submitted to the Public Service Center at the place of registration of the company.

List of documents for registration of temporary residence permit:

1. Letter of request from the employer (we prepared and sent for signature).
2. Application form (we filled out).
3. Employment contract – original or copy with a living seal. Practices vary from city to city. Please check the details with DOS Immigration consultants.
4. Screenshot/photo from the portal kz. Information is required to ensure that the trade union is registered in the unified system for recording employment contracts. The period must cover the period of the requested temporary residence permit. We sent a sample screen, as sometimes they provide incorrect data.
5. Notification of arrival (notification of the last crossing of the border of the Republic of Kazakhstan is required).
6. Work permit for a citizen of Uzbekistan.
7. Notification of the decision to issue a permit to attract foreign labor.
8. Medical insurance.
9. Notarized consent from the property owner. This is a mandatory document. The provision of a lease agreement cannot replace consent.
10. Power of attorney from the company for the person submitting documents for a temporary residence permit (we prepared it ourselves and sent it for signature).

The validity period of the temporary residence permit (TRP)

Depending on the district, city, region, the requested documents for processing of a temporary residence permit may differ.

We would like to warn you that there are documents that will affect the timing of the temporary residence permit (TRP):

1. The term of the employment contract.
2. Validity period of the passport.
3. Validity period of consent from the property owner.

After preparing all the documents, we registered the application at the Public Service Center. We received a ready-made temporary residence permit for a citizen of Uzbekistan the next day. Sometimes, due to failures in the system of government agencies, due to technical errors, there may be delays in obtaining a temporary residence permit. Most often, documents are issued within 1-2 business days.

IMPORTANT: at the time of submitting documents for registration of a temporary residence permit, a foreign citizen must be on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
