Due to pandemic, number of countries still have closed borders and ban on international flights. For this reason, many foreigners are unable to return to their home countries.

In response to the situation, Qazaqstan Government decided to extend the period of permitted stay for foreigners until November 1, 2020. Documents expires or to expire within the period from March 16 to November 1 are recognized as valid. These include: identity documents, visas, temporary residence permit, permanent residence permit, labor patent.

Foreigners who had arrived in Qazaqstan without visa before quarantine, will also be allowed to stay until November 1, 2020. If a foreigner is planning to stay in Qazaqstan, the inviting party should apply for extension of stay at the Migration Service.

Employers that obtained a permit to hire a foreign employee can apply for work visa at the Migration Service until November 1, 2020. This category of visa is issued regardless of the previously stated purpose of visit. Foreigners – family members of Qazaq nationals may, if there are sufficient grounds, apply for family reunion visa.

Foreigners may apply for residence permit even if the documents which were previously obtained abroad have been expired within the period from March 16 till October 31, 2020.For residence permit holders, the number of days spent out of Qazaqstan will not be taken into account. The out of country days will start counting from November 1, 2020.

Foreigners and inviting parties will not be penalized for violating the terms of stay in Qazaqstan until November 1, 2020.
