ENTRY RULES FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS TO KAZAKHSTAN DURING THE QUARANTINE RESTRICTIONS as of June 08, 2021

With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the entry rules for foreigners have been temporarily changed. At the moment, the borders of Kazakhstan are closed and permission to enter the Republic of Kazakhstan is required from the Interdepartmental Commission (IAC).

There are certain exceptions who do not need an entry permit. We will list some of them here. For a complete list, please contact the DOS Immigration consultants. The borders of the Republic of Kazakhstan are open to citizens of the following countries of the countries on all available flights without a special permit to enter from (IAC).

Borders of Kazakhstan are open to citizens of 21 countries by all available air flights without a special entry permit from Interdepartmental Committee (IDC):

    • Netherlands;
    • UAE;
    • South Korea;
    • Turkey;
    • Egypt;
    • Ukraine;
    • Belarus;
    • Armenia;
    • Hungary;
    • Qatar;
  • Russia;
  • Kyrgyzstan;
  • Uzbekistan;
  • Montenegro;
  • Georgia;
  • Sri Lanka;
  • Tajikistan;
  • Poland;
  • United Kingdom;
  • Maldives.

VISA-FREE REGIME AND OTHER EXEMPTIONS FOR ENTRY INTO KAZAKHSTAN

At the same time, foreign citizens must comply with visa requirements, because the unilateral visa-free regime was suspended until the end of 2021. At the same time, there are bilateral agreements on visa-free regime with a number of countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, UAE, Serbia, Turkey, Ecuador, South Korea.

Entry to Kazakhstan is also allowed for residence permit holders and foreigners who have family members, citizens of Kazakhstan. This category is allowed to cross the border no more than once every 30 days.

PCR CERTIFICATE

Foreign citizens arriving in Kazakhstan are required to have a PCR certificate with a negative COVID-19 test result. Children under 5 years of age do not need a PCR certificate.

The term of the certificate should not exceed 3 days (72 hours) from the date of its issue until the moment of crossing the Kazakh border.

Exceptions: foreign citizens who have received a full course of vaccination in Kazakhstan. When entering Kazakhstan, you must present documents confirming the receipt of a full course of vaccine (passport or certificate of vaccination). IMPORTANT: If the vaccine was received outside the Republic of Kazakhstan, foreigners still need a PCR certificate with a negative result for Covid-19 to enter the country, with the exception of a few countries whose vaccine passports and vaccination certificates were recognized in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.Currently, vaccination passports are recognized for citizens of the following countries: Hungary, Mongolia, Moldova, Thailand, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey. ENTRY PERMIT FROM THE IDC

The borders of Kazakhstan are closed to most foreign citizens. If the question of entering Kazakhstan is urgent, then you need to obtain an entry permit from the MVK. The procedure takes 2 to 4 weeks. The entry permit can be either single or multiple.
